Hi! I’m Rosy!

Rosanna “Rosy” Westerlind was born in Västerås, Sweden. With much thanks to her family, she has lived in Germany, South Africa, and England, making her way to Texas at the end of elementary school.

After high school, she proceeded to the Art Institute of Houston to study Fashion Retail Management, painting and running salt water aquariums in her free time. Always blurring the boundaries, she graduated with the Best in Show Award for a surprising final capstone project focused on a salt water fish tank business. (It could be said that Rosy has never cared to fit in, embracing her “inner weird” while wearing it, and her heart, on her sleeve.)

Never meeting a stranger, only a friend she just hasn’t known yet, paradoxically, Rosy is inspired by the places of the Earth (and beyond) which have no evidence of humanity. After time exploring surrealism and abstract painting, the most magical thing happened for her. How the Universe Works was released and inspiration struck harder than ever before. What started as interest became obsession for these natural born phenomena. All the areas that really are untouched, both aquatic and galactic, so far away, was all she could think about the next 8 years and became the main subjects of her work. You can particularly see her passions for underwater reefs and outer space collide in her piece, Skylarking, otherwise known amongst close friends as "Space Fish."

Although she attended art school, Rosy is self-taught with her techniques. Her vessels of choice are acrylic on canvas. Rosy currently resides and creates in Sugar Land, Texas.
